Iranian movie ‘Hussein Who Said No’ is to be screened in several Asian countries during the lunar months of Muharram and Safar.
Directed by Ahmadreza Darvish, the film will hit movie theatres across Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Azerbaijan and probably Qatar and Oman.
Taghi Aligholi, the producer of ‘Hussein Who Said No’ noted that Farabi institute will be distributing the film globally.
The flick is a historical, religious film on Imam Hussein (AS), dubbed in a number of languages including English and Arabic.
The 3D Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) technique has been utilized to create some of the scenes in the movie.
Seven actors of Arab nationality from different countries have performed in the feature, including Jamal Suliman from Syria, Dawood Hussain from Kuwait, Javad al-Shekarchi from Iraq as well as Foad Ebrahim from Lebanon.
Oscar-winning songwriter Stephen Varbk has composed the movie's soundtrack, which was recorded in Moliner Music Studio in London.
‘Hussein Who Said No’ is a narrative on Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising, leading to an unfair epic battle that has remained of unparalleled historicall significance. The Imam and 72 of his loyal companions, including his family members, were martyred on Ashura, the tenth day of the lunar month of Muharram, in the battle of Karbala against the second Umayyad caliph, Yazid I, in 680 AD.
Millions of Muslims worldwide mark the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions every year, in a widespread ritual custom.
